What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Websites can also keep information in your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way. This policy covers both.

Our approach

The public website doesn't need cookies to work. Optional cookies — for analytics and advertising — are only used if those services are switched on for the site, and only after you agree in the consent banner.

Essential storage (always on)

Name Where Purpose Lasts
vaultly-theme Local storage Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode Until you clear it
vaultly-consent-v1 Local storage Remembers your cookie choices so we don't ask again Until you clear it

The admin area of the site, which only the site owner uses, sets a session cookie and a security cookie for signing in.

Analytics (optional)

If enabled and you consent, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to tell visits apart and measure how the site is used. These typically last up to two years. IP addresses are anonymised. See Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Advertising (optional)

If enabled, Google AdSense shows ads on some pages. If you accept personalised ads, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. If you decline, ads are shown in non-personalised mode, which uses cookies only for limited purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention. Learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising (opens in a new tab) and manage settings at Google Ads Settings (opens in a new tab).

Live demos run on this website under /demos/ and keep their sample data in your browser's local storage (one key per app, for example vault_finance_demo). Clearing your browser's site data resets them. External sites we link to, such as Etsy, use their own cookies under their own policies.

How to change your choices

  • Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page to change your consent at any time.
  • You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, or block cookies entirely. The website will still work.

Changes

We'll update this policy if the cookies we use change. The "Last updated" date shows the current version.

This is a general website policy written in plain language. It isn't legal advice and may be updated as the site and its services change — the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions? Contact us.

We use optional cookies for anonymous analytics. Nothing optional is set until you choose. Cookie policy
